Overview( general )

*intense need for mastery, privacy and support of their unconventional opinions—respect is the key
*very seldom will respond to small talk— feel a sense of power by keeping things to themselves
*recreational activities— may love to learn a new language, chess,reading, using complex computer structures and concepts
*rarely given to extremes of emotion-either exuberance, joy or rage
*they are able to state with absolute certainty what they believe or do not believe
*have many should’s about their lives, behaviour and especially academic matters —-can be preoccupied with principles and mastery
*ask a great many questions WHY? or WHAT IF?
*very rich inner lives that they share with very few other people
*strong sense of internal organizations and order they would like to impose on their world if possible
*love using their minds on new and increasingly more difficult problems
*they can appear bookish and some what eccentric
*embrace the idea of being different to their peers, parents and siblings

Cautions

*in their teen years their intensity can be extreme and the certainty of their opinions if often unshakeable
*extreme independence can sometimes give them the appearance of arrogance or intellectual aloofness
*perfectionism can be destructive if it is left unchecked
*socializing is something their superb logic or reasoning skills can’t help
*need a positive outlet for their critical thinking skills
*they can unleash extreme emotion under stress
*they have real trouble working with people they see as incompetent
*can be very impatient with less intelligent peers
*they have very high standards and expectations/sometimes unrealistic expectations of themselves or others
*they can be very harsh when they make a judgement
*need clear, organized channels in which they find direction
*they may have difficulties recognizing or accepting impractical ideas within their strongly held visions
*need to be more gentle with themselves and others
*when they have a task/ideas—they do not always consider the opposition they meet
*disappointed in themselves for not meeting their own standards( standards are so high) for grades or their own achievement
*they will immediately dismiss ideas they have judged as unproductive sometimes too quickly
*can be very intense but also very self critical
*want to be on top— have difficulty accepting anything less than perfect

*will communicate with the outside world if it is absolutely necessary—as they age and they learn how to approach people this skill improves but the basic reticence
*once they have settled on a standard they may be unwilling to settle for less- they may withdraw or become quite isolated if the standard is not met
*may avoid social involvement—they feel stress very deeply
*especially when they are young they may be very anxious, awkward, skeptical and personally distant-private and difficult to get to know
*they may be intellectual elitists- those who do not have their strengths of intellect may not be valued as peers
*may lose themselves in their projects, studies reading, books or abstract musings
*they tend to be ivory tower types and they may come into conflict with action oriented types who value actions over intellect
*if their vision does not match the reality of the situation they may need help with the details or more down to earth aspects of a project
*they display incredible complexity of thought-spend the majority of their time in the future—they can create new ways of doing things but they may forget to live in the moment
